Dr. Clyde Ikeda
Director, Bothin Burn Center
Saint Francis Memorial Hospital
Dear Friend,
Over the past 42 years the Bothin Burn Center at Saint Francis Memorial Hospital has been providing hope and care for countless burn patients from throughout Northern California and beyond. The Bothin Burn Center started as a four-bed ward in 1955 and became officially established in 1967. The Bothin Burn Center is the only dedicated burn care facility in San Francisco.
The current ten-bed intensive care unit provides treatment for seriously burned children and adults from all over the western United States. Offering the latest treatment modalities, the Center combines the expertise of surgeons, nurses, therapists, pain control specialists, and home care nurses and aides to treat patients from their first acute trauma to their return home. The Burn Center has weathered many storms over the years and continues to serve as a bridge to hope for many patients who find themselves in the personal crisis and struggle caused by a burn.
Today we all face a challenging crisis with the economy in one of the worst downturns in our nation’s history; employees are being laid off from their jobs and companies are tightening their belts. In the midst of this economic crisis the Bothin Burn Center must continue to serve as a beacon of hope for those patients in need. For this reason we must reach out to our friends who can help us expand our services and continue to be that bridge to hope that so many have grown to count on during their time of need.
It’s important to remember that the Bothin Burn Center is the only certified and dedicated burn center from Santa Clara to Davis and north to the Oregon border. If you are burned and live in the San Francisco Bay Area, Saint Francis is where you will be receiving your care. It is my hope that you will support us as we expand and remodel the Bothin Burn Center which will allow us to add four additional beds. We need your support now more than ever.
Sincerely,
Clyde Ikeda, MD
